Frustration Station

You ever have one of those mornings (okay, well, it was after noon when I woke up, but the point still stands) where you just get flooded with frustrating/overwhelming/upsetting news all in one go?

Yeah, that's how my day's started off, so instead of the more thought-provoking and serious topic I HAD wanted to talk about, you get a list post instead.

1. First and foremost, the guy who was fixing my phone has entirely disappeared. Kiosk is gone. The mall office can't even find him. So... we're out the $160 we paid for the part. At least he didn't have my phone, right?

2. I don't think I ever showed off the second Destination Yarn subscription color I got.

It's called Carnival in Venice. It's hard to see, but there's gold sparkle in it.

2. We went to Local Yarn Shop Day at Harps and Thistles yesterday and my makeup was looking pretty dang good,

3. I came home with two skeins of Malabrigo Mechita in Carnival.

Look familiar? It should. It's the same color from Carnival in the Castle that I made last September.

4. I also went out with Bethany yesterday for a bit of shopping and by far my favorite find was a washi tape organizer.

5. One of the very first cactuses I ever got, Prickles, ended up getting blown over from wind. When I went to put him back into the pot, the plant separated, so now I have Prickles and Pickles.

6. My snowflake aloe are looking super happy and healthy, which makes me so happy. I was worried about them when we first brought them home.

7. All my babies in the bedroom also seem to be pretty happy.

8. I started on the shawl I want to wear to Great Lakes Fiber Show.

Yes, it's something lacey and beaded. Because that's all I know how to do apparently.

9. I really don't have much else to say, so have a pet picture to take us out.

10. Wait, no, I lied. I redid my shrine to Henry, so have a pretty picture with all the candles lit up.

Okay, NOW I'm actually done. Toodles!

Depression: A Series of Photos

Today is another bad day.

I borked my shoulder and wrist by coloring three people's hair yesterday, including my own.

And I woke up with one of the hardest hitting depressions I've had in a while, coupled with a heaping dose of anxiety and dread.

I have only made it out of bed long enough to use the bathroom. Anxiety sent me running right back upstairs as soon as I was done.

I want to just sink into the peacful temporary oblivion of sleep. I want to force myself up and into a craft project. I want to knit. I want to weep.

I took pictures.

It's not enough to get me out of bed. Or to lessen the feelings. But maybe they won't last as long now.Maybe just a little flicker of light against the overwhelming darkness.

Sunday Scramblin'

List posts are such a great way to add content to your blog! No need for a set topic to tie the whole thing together! In my opinion they are superio-

Yeah, okay, fuck it. I'm feeling lazy.

List posts = the McDonald's of the blogger arsenal.

It's a good thing I like me a Big Mac.

1. I've decided that small paintings are great and all, but I really need to torture myself by doing a mandala on a sheet of 18 x 24 inch watercolor paper.

2. I also did me a quick little piece to satisfy the mandal urges when the big ol' one up there proved to be more than I felt like tackling at the moment.

It's on these nifty little scroll things I found on clearance at World Market.

3. My tattoo is healing really well. I've had no problems with it being itchy at all. I never have with any of my three.

4. I'm scared that the fact above will make my tattooed friends want to rage at me for not having to endure what I hear is one of the worst parts about the tattoo healing process.

5. These are apparently the new rugs that I got for the hall right outside of the bathroom. They don't seem to appreciate me trying to dry my feet off on them after stepping out of the shower.

6. I found a REALLY HECKIN COOL travel watercolor set.

I snagged it for a mere $16 once I used my 60% off coupon. (All about them deals, yo.)

7. I HAD to do a side-by-side comparison of these paints (dry blocks) and my typical ones (tubed).

Old on the left, new on the right.

8. We built a cardboard playground for the cats.

Yes, they had as much fun as you would think. Also, it's really fun to watch your dog try to jump through boxes to get the toy that you mercilessly threw in one.

9. Alex rolled herself into a burrito on the couch and looked so cozy that I had to try it myself. Mine was superior because it contained a cat.

10. This round of Tsuro of the Seas got super interesting. It ended with a dragon crashing on John's head.

11. This conversation happened with Jamie. Atheists eat babies: confirmed.

12. Knitting? What's that? Gryffindor bag? I don't know what you're talking about. *hurriedly shoves half-finished project under something*

Okay, okay. I haven't worked on any knitting since early last week. Which is bloody great when you run a damn knitting blog.

I do plan on picking it up again here soon, but hate colorwork so fucking much and can barely bring myself to look at the damn thing have been busy with other things.

13. I was feeling pretty damn hot over the weekend. I mean, I managed to look like this whilst only functioning on 4 hours of sleep.

Saturday looked just as good.

14. Lest you think that I am feeling a little too full of myself, I was firmly reminded tonight of my actual place in the world.

Journeys(-als) and Bullet Points

My brain's a little scattered this week, so rather than trying to be my usual witty self, I'm going to make life simple and just use bullet points for everything.

- John and I celebrated our 10 year together-ness anniversary on the 19th. We had a super hot date night of sitting in bed and watching the Lord of the Rings extended edition on blu-ray. We didn't make a big fuss about it on social media. It was perfect.

- For his present, I made him a leather bound journal. And then I made a shit ton more. Flood of pictures incoming:

John's. Funny enough, I worked on the damn thing right under his nose. He never figured it out.

One for me, complete with pocket. Used an old earring to decorate the clasp.

A mini one for Mr. Weber complete with removable booklets. Once he's filled it up, I can make him a replacement filler.

A commission from my middle sister for her best friend's birthday. This one isn't real leather, but I still like how it came out.

I also did a travel journal for Renee, but forgot to snap some pictures.

- Worked on SECRET PROJECT M-1-50.

-Finally brought my dresser in from the garage, and promptly filled it with my entire stash.

Well.......

...Most of the stash.

- Got a lovely gift from Renee! And took some cute pictures of the hubs and I when she had to step away for a moment.

- Got to hang out with Vi, Sarah, and Ellen at Harps and Thistles one day. Bought some rose colored lace yarn that I'm super excited about.

- First shipment from my Madeline Tosh yarn club came in.

It's....
well.....
ugly.

Maybe I shouldn't say ugly. But it's certainly not my cup of tea. Which really sucks because the yarn itself is AMAZINGLY soft and squishy.

Willing to let it go for $20 each, or both for $37, plus shipping. Being completely serious here. Someone else can have it... (USA inquiries only, please. Don't much feel like dealing with customs.)

- Seems that I'm having a streak of bad luck with yarn. Some other stuff I ordered came in today and the color is radically different from what was shown, but the owner won't do exchanges based on color alone. I currently have it in the dye pot, hoping to make it into something useable.

If the Tosh doesn't sell, that's where it's heading, too.

- Remember my d20 mug that Bethany bought me? It's got a home now.

- And finally, some random pet pictures, because internet tax.

- Hope you all have a better week than what I seem to be.
